Tamo Centerpiece Tray

$84.99

These striking decorative trays are as functional as they are beautiful. Each tray has been handcarved and decorated in the tamo de pasto artistic tradition by master artisans. A finishing lacquer has been applied to preserve the brightness and textures of these pieces of art.

  • Length: approx. 16”

  • Handmade in Pasto, Colombia

The Art of Tamo
This distinctive craft originates from Pasto, Colombia. Artisans begin with a wooden base, then adorn it with straw harvested from wheat and barley. Using techniques similar to mosaic art, they meticulously shave and layer dyed straw pieces to create intricate designs. Each finished piece receives three protective coats of lacquer.

Care & Use Instructions
This handcrafted piece is designed for decorative use and light serving purposes, such as displaying fruit, charcuterie, or dry snacks. While durable, it is not intended for regular tableware use. To preserve the artwork:

  • Avoid hot liquids, direct heat, or sun

  • Never cut directly on the surface or use utensils

  • Hand wash only with mild soap and a soft cloth; dry immediately
