Nestled below the famous Rainbow Mountain, the village of Pitumarca once produced textiles for the mighty Incan empire. Today, it remains renowned not only for the exceptional quality of its work but also for preserving ancient weaving techniques found nowhere else in the world.
Many weavers still raise flocks of llamas and alpacas high in the Andeans, bringing their precious wool down to the village only on Sundays. It's then that the community gathers in time-honored tradition, transforming raw fibers into masterpieces that carry forward centuries of textile artistry.
